Homesickness hits almost every au pair, usually around month 3. Here is what helps.
Homesickness is real, and it is normal. Most au pairs experience a wave around 2-4 months in, when the newness wears off and the reality of a full year sets in.\n\n**Things that help:**\n- Video-call home on a schedule, not just when you feel bad\n- Join a local au pair WhatsApp group and go to real meetups\n- Cook a meal from home once a week\n- Move your body every day, even a short walk\n\n**When to ask for help:**\nIf you feel sad most days for more than two weeks, or you are having thoughts of hurting yourself, please talk to someone.
